The 120+ Year-old Century-Farmouse-converted-to-Wine-Shop offers a shopping environment much different from grocery or big-box stores. We take the time to select our inventory with great care and can offer some great recommendations for drinking, gifting, cellaring, or pairing with your next hosted meal!

We want you to feel like you are always welcome to come browse, or take your wine & beer outside to enjoy on a sunny day.

   Shueyville, Iowa native Lauren Cannon graduated from the University of Iowa and relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona. She spent eight years working for Hyatt Resorts where she developed a great passion for hospitality, service, and wine. She pursued her wine studies through reading, tasting, and many trips to wine country.

After completing her Masters in English and teaching overseas, Lauren returned to her hometown in 2004 and opened her dream business: The Secret Cellar. In addition to operating her wine shop and hosting fundraisers for local charities, she loves to design and teach wine education classes--pairing wine tasting with foods, golfing, and even painting!

Lauren completed the first Sommelier Course and Exam and is studying for the Certified Exam. She has earned a prized judging seat alongside celebrated winemakers and Master Sommeliers at the Mid-American Wine Competition. She also judges at the Iowa State Fair Professional Wine Competition, the Wisconsin State Fair Wine Competition, the International Cold-Climate Wine Competition, and she serves on Iowa's first VQA (Iowa Vintners Quality Alliance).
